Jag skriver långa texter när jag har pms eller liknande. Men på engelska är kanske lite mastigt även för mig. Fast jag bryr mig inte om grammatik och sådant när jag skriver sådant så därför är det nog fett med stavfel och dyligt men jag ville ändå spara texten om ut i fall att den skulle försvinna från någon av de andra paltserna där jag har lagt ut den på.

Sigh, sigh, sigh, sigh.

People, people, people.

 

Some people annoy me alot, more than most other can annoy me. The ones who stubborn to produce/breed new animals without knowing anything about their animals. Or for that matter the genetics behind their animals - cause its very important to know about in some cases. The most popular reason why people breed two animals together without knowing anything about breedings is because they want to have a baby from their beloved pet. An exacly copy of their cutest little pet. What those peoples don't think of is that most animals don't just get 1-2 babys but atleast 5 babys in some cases up to 20 in one litter! And what shall you do with the rest of the babys?! Cause there isnt 18 buyers who know their own pet (the babys parents).

 

The other reason why people start breeding animals without knowing anything about their pets are because they think they can earn money from breeding. It might be possible that you can do it if you are unserious about the whole thing. Serious breeders loose more money than they gain from the breeding. But for example - breeding dogs. Even if you breed them unseriously you still have to face the fact. Puppies destroying your home, bit by bit until they are old enough to move to new homes. And if you can't find new homes to them, you will be stuck with them - destorying your home bit by bit.

 

A serious breeder of dogs, cats and other "big" - like farm animals pay alot of money to get their animals as good as it can be. Especially if they are using male animals from other peoples, breeding fee can be high on good animals. Then there will be veterinarian costs for the female animal and later even for the babys, like vaccinations and wormings.

 

Unserious breeders, uhhh... Its a nightmare just thinking of them.

 

What makes me think of this, again. I've wrote about it before.

Is because I have a small mail conversation with a woman who breed lots of animals without seem to know anything about the animals she is breeding. Not just only genetic stuff, but also how to care for them and when its ok to breed and when its not ok to do it.

 

Im pretty sure she would have breed two roans togheter for example if she just could do it. Roan + Roan = Lethal death. And that is the biggest reason why its important to know about genetics before breeding.

 

Lethal Death is when two genes becomes homozygote (or doubble), not all genes work like that but some does and when that happend its just being really cruel to the animal. In horses lethal death foal are born all white, their stomach isnt working and they will most likely die within 24 hours. In guinea pigs lethal death babys will be born microscopic, without eyes and die within a week. Lethal death dogs become blind and death but can live for atleast some years. There is more examples of lethal death genes and how it can affect animals. (It probably exist in humans aswell, but i don't know what sydrome it can cregate for us).

 

Even if she or others don't breed with animals that could possible give lethal death offspring its a quite good idea to study the whole thing. Its not just colors that will be past over to the offspring - just about everthing (50% from the mother and 50% from the father). Even diseases, like cancer or bad temper. And if its not show up in the offspring they might be carring it over to their offspring and if its not happend then it can happend later. Recenssiv genes can "travel" through many generations before it show up what it can do, either in colors, look or diseases. Its only when a recessive gene become homozygote that it will show up.

 

That is probably one of the best reasons why serious breeders give a pedigree to the buyers of their new animal. Or, it depends of course what the pedigree says about the animals that is in their new animal. My dogs pedigrees doesnt say alot about their relatives. But the ones or guinea pigs haves are better, atleast for me who know their genetic stuff.

 

Anyway, there is alot of new animals being born every year. Way to many new animals. Like if a cat female can give born to three litters/1 year and each litter contain 6 kittens, three of each gender. The female will alone produce 18 new cats. And the kittens, atleast from the first two litters can themself produces even more kittens. So when the year is ended the start cat can have given hundreds of new lifes. I don't remember how many kittens a male cat can be dad to in just one year. Its probably alot of new lifes. Well the point is... There isnt enough homes for so many kittens or whatever the animal is.

 

And there is alot of homeless animals out there without owners, food, shelter and love. So I really can't see the point of producing new animals each year without thinking twice about it. And its probably sounds strange to hear it from me, since i have been a breeder and still thinking of be it. But atleast I can keep the offspring for myself if I need to. If I had more room and time I would have taken care of lots and lots of animals (guinea pig males). But from there I live now its not possible.

 

Another thing is, pet stores that are selling cats and dogs. For me, its to exotic and, well, awful to me. I can’t see the point of selling such animals in stores at all. A dog or cat is to long lived and close members of the family. I would never ever have bought a dog in a pet store. Or sell my puppies to one. It’s a nightmare just to think about it. In a pet store everyone can buy a pet, no matter if you will take care of it because you love animals or if you buy it to torture it. Buyers of the pets produced by you should be meet IRL. Its not a guaranties that the buyer will be serious and take care of the pet but you can probably feel if it feels right or not to sell a pet to the person.

Selling such animals in a pet store will probably increase the number of homeless street animals. Since these stupid ego people keep breed their pets in their homes without knowing anything about their animals. I don’t know how it is in other countries of the world but here in Sweden is it forbidden to sell cats, dogs and ferrets (and some other animals) in pet stores. And we do not have any street dogs at all, we have homeless street cats but that’s another story (cats can give birth more often than a dog can).
